Cognito Psalms I

I will bless the Lord at all times.
Why? Because He is faithful and true.
When I look around at the world today
I am confronted by all kinds of things.
In some places, beauty, wisdom, creativity and wonder
But none of it compares to His beauty and wonder
In other places I see ugliness and suffering
But its all fades into insignificance when I consider the awesome love of God

He alone is worthy of our praise
He alone deserves all the honor and respect
Men fail and fall like leaves in autumn
Kingdoms rise and fall like the waves of the sea
They strive for perfection and honor and greatness
But all of that belongs to God alone
Nothing that exists makes any sense without him
He is the factor that completes the equation

Lord look down on me with mercy as I sing your praises
I am nothing without you
All the works of my hand I owe to you
You created me Lord with these abilities
I do not take it for granted

Help me to praise you continually Lord
Because you deserve it
When I am tempted to look away from you
And look down at the situations and issues that confront me
Help me to keep my eyes and my mind fixed on you
For in your Light, I have light
Your light is so beautiful
It is like the glow of the morning sun
It purifies me and sends me on my way
Showing me where to go and how to tread
The treacherous road of life

What would I be without you?
You are the beauty of creation
But you are greater than creation
I exalt your name today
I magnify you
I declare your praises in blog land
Let all bloggers and blog readers know
That you are a good God

I bless your name today Lord
And at all times

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST

The metal blades cut Him so deep
The tears in His flesh began to weep
Tears of blood for you and I
Oh yes, for us, He came to die

A crown of thorns upon His head
“Hail King of Jews” the mockers said
His body quaked with intense pain
But all He thought of was our gain

His shoulders bore that heavy cross
Though weakened by the blood He lost
He staggered, stumbled, tripped and fell
Just so we might not go to hell

He screamed as nails pierced through His hands
Such pain to fulfill love’s demands
Thirsty, battered, wounded, weak
Yet love was all His lips could speak

“Father forgive them”, Jesus prayed
As upon Him our sin was laid
And as the life in Him diminished
He said at last “It is finished”.
